Program Overview

The Helix Center provides intensive short-term therapeutic services to teens, ages 12-18, and their families. Here’s what sets our outpatient program apart.

The Helix Difference

Often struggling teens move from crisis to calm to crisis over and over, particularly during the teenage years. Our goal is to provide treatment that interrupts this pattern and lets teens get out of the crisis cycle and back into their lives, with new skills and a new, more positive sense of self in place.

We are an evidence-based program that integrates cutting-edge therapeutic approaches, along with comprehensive assessment and excellent psychiatric management. At Helix, teens can receive short-term intensive therapeutic help with minimal disruptions to their everyday lives. It is a place for teens to pause, reset, and return to their lives, equipped to move forward on their own intentionality and self-belief.

Helix is also a place where parents are prioritized, and receive compassionate, effective support so that whole families are able to move forward into a better, more balanced, less fearful family life.

14 Weeks of Quality Treatment

PROGRAM DURATION

At  Helix, our goal is to get your teen back into the normal routine of  life – functioning in a meaningful and productive way, with a better sense of self and purpose. Research shows quality treatment doesn’t (and shouldn’t) take forever. Our treatment program is limited to 14 weeks:

  • The first 5 weeks of the program focus on helping teens learn the core skills necessary for growth.

  • The next 7 weeks are used to practice and internalize skills.

  • The final 2 weeks focus specifically on preparing to transition out of Helix and to the next step in their personal growth and development.

  • Our team is committed to ensuring that teens and their families have the proper support after our program is completed. Booster sessions are available to help with the transition to outside support and to maintain growth after our 14-week program is completed.

Keeping Everyone Connected

INTEGRATION & COMMUNICATION

Our approach at Helix is to help set and align cohesive goals, and then clear a collective path to ensure everyone (teen, parents, therapist, psychiatrist, school, etc.) is on the same page, have the same language, and work in partnership to achieve those goals.

  • Your teen is at the heart of everything we do.

  • For every teen that enters our program, our Clinical Team works collaboratively to ensure progress, goals and needs are met.

  • We believe that parents/caregivers play an integral part in the life of their teens, and as such, your active participation in treatment is essential.

  • Collaborating with other key people in the cornerstones of your teen’s life (such as school, coaches, therapists) is important to help them find success while in our program and to help them return to (and reclaim) their life once they have completed the program.
