Intake Process

Our first step is a thorough intake process to ensure that Helix is a good fit and can provide a meaningful experience for your teen. Here’s what that looks like…

Client Intake & Assessments

You and your teen will attend two 90-minute intake sessions prior to officially starting our 14-week outpatient program: the Family Intake and Psychiatric Evaluation. All intake sessions and the entirety of the program take place in our convenient and comfortable offices located in McLean, Virginia.

    Family Intake

The Family Intake session is an important first step. This determines if the Helix program is a good fit for your teen and family. If your family and Helix agree, we will proceed to scheduling the Psychiatric Evaluation. All parents/caregivers attend the Family Intake and Psychiatric Evaluation with their teen.

    Psychiatric Evaluation

You and your teen will meet with Dr. Sakran. This intake helps us understand your teen’s mental health and psychiatric care needs and will guide our recommendations for the best treatment. All parents/caregivers attend this evaluation with their teen.

Real-world results for teens:

“[Helix is] clear that 12 weeks is not a silver bullet. But my child went from a zombie who didn’t want to leave their room, to reengaging with friends and activities, to a more vocal self advocate, who became more self confident and ultimately started engaging more at school. ”
