Founder & Medical Director
Dr. Mark Sakran (he/him) was born and raised in Fairfax, Va. He received his Bachelors of Science in Biology from George Mason University and obtained his Doctorate in Medicine from The University of Saint Eustatius School of Medicine. He completed his General Adult Psychiatry residency at Hennepin-Regions Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota and his Child and Adolescent Psychiatry sub-specialty fellowship training at Georgetown University.
Dr. Sakran enjoys working with families and strives to thoroughly understand the needs of each of his clients. He approaches treatment by focusing not just on the individual, but rather by working closely with all those involved in his patients’ lives to create a personal and effective treatment plan unique to each client. He has extensive training and experience in treating a wide array of disorders including ADHD, Mood/Bipolar disorders, Behavioral disorders, Anxiety, and Depressive disorders.
In addition to his private practice work in McLean VA, Dr. Sakran also oversees the treatment and medication management in a residential and partial hospital program in an addiction center in Arlington, VA and consults for and treats patients at “The Dorm,” a young adult intensive outpatient program located in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Sakran understands the depth and gravity of placing children on medications. He always cautiously weighs out the risks vs. benefits of utilizing medications, and only does so when necessary to support other non-pharmacologic interventions.
